​MEXT Scholarship is offered by the Government of Japan. The Government of Japan is now accepting applications for the MEXT Research Scholarship 2026, offering Pakistani students a fully funded opportunity to pursue Master’s or Ph.D. degrees at esteemed Japanese universities. This scholarship aims to promote academic excellence and strengthen the bilateral relationship between Japan and Pakistan.​

The MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) Research Scholarship is Japan’s flagship program for international graduate students. It provides comprehensive financial support, including tuition fees, monthly stipends, airfare, and more, enabling scholars to focus entirely on their academic pursuits.

MEXT Scholarship Benefits

• Monthly Stipend:
  • Master’s students: ¥144,000
  • Ph.D. students: ¥145,000

• Airfare: Round-trip economy class ticket between Pakistan and Japan

• Accommodation Support: Assistance in securing housing

Eligibility Criteria

• Age: Be under 35 years old as of April 1, 2026

• Educational Background:

• For Master’s: Hold a Bachelor’s degree
• For Ph.D.: Hold a Master’s degree

• Language Proficiency: Demonstrate proficiency in English or Japanese (IELTS or TOEFL preferred)

• The applicant needs an attestation copy of their degree (hope certificate) and transcripts from the last universities they attended.

• Recommendation Letter from the president/dean or the academic advisor at the current or last university attended.

Note:

• All documents must be printed on A4-size paper and assembled using a paper clip (no staples).

• Only complete applications will be considered.

• Submitted documents will not be returned.​
